On 2 November 2022, Ambassador Allan Joseph Chintedza met Former Chinese Ambassador to Malawi and the President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), Ambassador Lin Songtian at the CPAFFC. The Deputy Ambassador, First Secretary Administration and Third Secretary also attended the meeting. The two sides discussed the bilateral relations between Malawi and China and the achievements made in deepening friendship between the two peoples and practical cooperation. The two sides also discussed how Malawi and China can actively promote the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Malawi Vision 2063 for the benefit of the two peoples. Reiterating His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCathy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi’s UNGA address and call to walk the talk on “Leaving No-one Behind”, the Malawi Ambassador commended the Chinese Government for taking Africa together with it in the development process. He further emphasized the need for consolidation of the relationship between the two countries. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The two sides exchanged views on the preparations for celebrations marking the 15th anniversary. This will be an opportunity to actively promote bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of poverty reduction and development, agriculture, new energy resources, special economic zones and other areas. | ||
