Hunan Officials Pay a Courtesy Call on His Excellency Allan Joseph Chintedza

 

 

Malawi looks forward to an increase in trade through the engagement between the provincial government in Changsha and the Malawi Government and enhanced cooperation in agriculture and tourism , Ambassador Allan Chintedza said. 

The Ambassador made these remarks during a courtesy call on him from officials from Furong District on Wednesdar, 11th January 2023. 

The Ambassador emphasized the need to consolidate the relationship between the two sides and the need for proper partnership between China and Africa specifically Malawi to create a win-win situation. 

He pointed out that it is a good development that Malawi had been granted zero tarrif treatment on 98%of currently taxable products together with 9 other Least Developed Countries and that discussions between the two governments are underway on the details of the products included under this provision. 

In her remarks, Ms Jiang Ran, Deputy Director of Furong  District, Changsha City Member of Party Committee of Furong District appreciated the deep relationship between the two sides and the foundation for cooperation that was laid. she highlighted that furong is a free trade zone and that there have been exchanges between Hunan and Africa in agriculture through seeds and coffee as well as in mineral resources. She also said that the provincial government will provide best policy environment for trade for Malawi. 

Furong is the political, administrative, economic and education hub of Changsha City, the Capital of hunan Province. Hunan, located in Central China, connects other regions of China, and plays an important role in China's Regional Development pattern. Since 2019, Hunan has been the long-term host of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) and has started the development the the China-Africa Deep Economic and Trade Cooperation Advance Zone.
